PlushRobe carries what you put on when the day is over: bathrobes, dressing gowns, kimono robes, pyjama sets, bed socks and a few things that go with them. Around a hundred references, from $4 for a sleep mask to $216 for a velvet robe, listed by fabric and by measured size rather than by adjective.
Choosing between terry, waffle, fleece and satin
These four cover almost everything on the site and they do different jobs. Terry is the loop-pile cotton used in hotels: it is the only one on this list that genuinely dries you, and it is also the heaviest. Waffle is a lighter cotton with a raised grid that holds the cloth off the skin, so it dries out between wears instead of staying damp on the hook. Fleece does not absorb anything; it traps air, which is why it warms up in a minute and why it is the wrong choice straight out of a bath. Satin absorbs nothing either, but it stays cool and slides rather than catching, which is why it is worn over bare skin in a warm room.
Measuring, and why the size on your old robe is not the answer
Two numbers decide the fit: chest measured under the arms, all the way round, and length from the shoulder seam to the hem. Robes are cut generously on purpose – a robe that fits like a coat will not wrap. Every product page gives both numbers for every size, measured flat in centimetres. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one; nobody has ever complained that a bathrobe was too roomy.
